A healthcare organization in Newport seeks a Healthcare Assistant to provide patient care and conduct health monitoring. Responsibilities include taking vital signs and supporting clinical colleagues. Candidates must have at least 1 year of healthcare experience and meet educational requirements. Hours per week - 18 to 21.5. Ideally include a Monday - flexible on other days/hours

Prior experience of working in general practice or the NHS isrequired, but not experience of all aspects of the role. Training will beprovided to a suitable candidate to become an excellent general practiceHCA.
As an HCA you will help provide patient care, in particularhealth monitoring and assessment: taking blood samples, blood pressures, pulse,ECGs and temperature, measuring height and weight and urinalysis testing.Support preventative care by conducting NHS health checks, advising onlifestyle choices and administering adult vaccinations. Support clinicaladministration such as ordering, rotation and maintenance of clinical stocklevels. Support clinical colleagues when a chaperone is needed or in theemergency management of patients. To do this you will work to protocolsensuring best practice and safe care.
We are a multi-disciplinary team of GPs, ANPs, MHP,paramedics, nurses, GP (healthcare) assistants, pharmacist, social prescriber,dietitian, wellbeing coach, MSK practitioners, phlebotomists and administrativeand cleaning staff who all work closely together to deliver excellentpatient-centred care. You will start with some initial HCA responsibilitieswhich may then progress over time to include the following HCA responsibilities:
InitialAreas of Focus
Blood pressure, height,weight, pulse & temperature
Chaperoning
ECG recording
Urinalysis
Areasof Focus in Future Years
Maintenance and testing ofmedical equipment
Ordering, rotation &maintenance of clinical stock levels
Re-stock clinical roomsand storage cupboards
Collection of specimens as directed
Routine immunisation & B12
Workingalongside other clinicians to provide patient care, you will undertake thefollowing:
Record patient and clinical appointmentinformation on the clinical system
Recognise changes in the patientsobservations which must be reported and acted on
Assist clinicians in emergencymanagement of patients
Enable patients to access appropriateprofessional care in the practice team
Appreciate the Principles of HealthyLiving
Provide relevant health promotionliterature for patients
Undertake and record patient healthchecks, to include blood pressure readings, urine testing, medical historytaking
Attend any training required for therole
Prepare and maintain environments andequipment before, during and after patient care interventions including
Test urine specimens using appropriateequipment and record as required
Assist with the collection of healthand well-being data
Help raise awareness of health andwell-being and how it can be promoted
Assist clinicians in the emergencymanagement of patients (e.g. CPR, anaphylaxis, haemorrhage, fits and faints andhypoglycaemia)
Attend relevant training and meetingsas required
To perform other clinical tasks astrained and agreed to meet the needs of the practice
Youmay also have areas of specific responsibility, such as:
Liaison with patients for a specific healthregister
Advise on health promotion
Vaccine/cold chain storage andmonitoring
Maintain vaccine stock levels and stockrotation
You may be required to work additional hours including atweekends to accommodate the needs of the patients eg for Flu/Covid vaccineclinics.
