We have an exciting opportunity for a Healthcare Assistant to join our Primary Care team at HMP Thameside, a category B prison located in London.

HMP Thameside

HMP Thameside is a male prison based in North London that has capacity for 1232 inmates. We are currently recruiting for Healthcare Assistants to support the wider healthcare team.

Hours

Thameside run 24 hour healthcare.

Shift patterns are either 0700-1930 or 1900-0730 Monday to Sunday.

4 week Rota basis 1 week 4 shifts and 3 weeks 3 shifts

Salary

This position is full time, you’ll receive an annual salary up to £32,134 per annum - depending on experience

What you'll be doing

As a Healthcare Assistant, your responsibilities will vary. You will

  • Support the registered nurse in implementing an agreed plan of care in association with the patient and in accordance with instructions and training received whilst promoting safe patient care
  • Be willing to develop and apply new skills to maintain and enhance clinical service delivery.

Qualifications required
  • NVQ level 2/3 or equivalent in Health and Social Care
  • A non-judgmental and compassionate approach
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Good IT skills and IT literacy
  • Ability to work within a busy environment
  • Ability to work unsupervised whilst following policy and procedures

Although not essential ideal applicants would have experience in a hospital, community or prison environment
