Job description

We are now looking for a Health and Safety Officer to support our operations teams and help strengthen our health and safety culture across the business.

The Role

You will work closely with site management to improve current systems, promote safe behaviours and support compliance across the operation. The role involves developing practical solutions, monitoring performance, coaching colleagues, reviewing risk assessments, carrying out audits and inspections, and helping to implement strategies that ensure a safe, compliant and proactive working environment. You will also deliver training, toolbox talks and inductions, and provide clear communication on health and safety matters to teams and stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities
  • Promote company values in all interactions.
  • Support the development of a strong health and safety culture and good safety behaviours.
  • Assist with compliance, performance monitoring and continuous improvement.
  • Liaise with employees, contractors and suppliers on safety matters.
  • Identify risks or opportunities and support the management team in responding effectively.
  • Help develop communication strategies so health and safety plans are clearly understood.
  • Provide coaching and guidance to colleagues.
  • Review risk assessments and conduct investigations when required.
  • Carry out site audits and inspections, and report on findings.
  • Ensure GDPR compliance and undertake any other duties appropriate to the role.
About You

You will bring NEBOSH or similar H&S qualifications, good IT skills and a full clean driving licence. You will have experience in health and safety, ideally in a distribution or packaging environment, along with strong communication, relationship building and organisational skills. You should be comfortable influencing positive behaviours, delivering training and working both independently and as part of a team. Experience in auditing or the food sector is useful but not essential.
