Health and Safety Manager

MM is a global leader in consumer packaging. The Group provides packaging solutions for cartonboard and folding cartons with an attractive offer in kraft papers, uncoated fine papers, leaflets and labels. MM promotes sustainable development through innovative, recyclable packaging and paper products.

To strengthen our motivated Talent Attraction Team at our site in Bradford, we are looking for a passionate H&S Manager (m/f/d).

Your Role
  • You will assist with the delivery and implementation of the global and Divisional H&S strategy across the site
  • You will provide support to Senior Management and act as key point of contact on all aspects of H&S Management
  • You will develop and ensure the robustness of the management systems which support BS OHSAS 18001
  • You will create and drive good practice / policy deployment / training requirements across the site
  • You will provide support for the evaluation of training needs, develop and advise on site‑specific H&S training in core H&S subjects – e.g. MH, COSHH, Risk Assessments
  • You will work with external providers to ensure robust and timely management and assessment of key hazards – e.g. Noise, Fire: Work with site management to drive action plans resulting from these external assessments.
  • You will oversee and conduct site H&S Audits as per agreed programme and working with management drive resulting action plans, through to their conclusion
  • You will ensure good practice and lessons learnt from incidents are shared across the Group
  • You will contribute to management review meetings, as and when necessary.
  • You will assist with the development of company H&S standards, procedures and guidance through consultation with the workforce and operational management
  • You will collate and produce a standard monthly H&S Report on site performance
  • You will review Employer’s Liability Claims and Worker’s Compensation Claims for the Bradford site and work alongside the management team in assessing and dealing with claims.
  • You will oversee statutory visits and Investigations. Ensure the Company maintains an effective working relationship with enforcement agencies, the local community and other interested stakeholders (TUs), taking any opportunity to enhance these working relationships.
  • You will pursue Continual Professional Development in line with departmental performance objectives and act as a mentor for site H&S Champions.
Your Profile
  • You have significant experience in a health and safety role in manufacturing and/or distribution.
  • You have educated to NEBOSH standard as a minimum.
  • You have experience in the implementation of external accreditation audit processes (OHSAS 18001)
  • You are able to develop & deliver internal H&S audits
  • You are able to support the delivery of the H&S strategy and programs across the site
  • You have drive to deliver continuous improvement across all H&S KPIs within the site
  • You are a committed, enthusiastic individual, capable of calm and methodical discharge of duties
  • You have excellent oral, written and presentation skills, combined with ability to use Microsoft Office Suite and ability to work with IT personnel in developing/maintaining in‑house systems.
  • You are numerate and analytical, capable of working on own initiative and interfacing with people at all levels within the business
  • You have ability to leverage internal and external networks and relationships to deliver cultural change

This is a day shift position working 37.5 hours per week on site.
