Interim Director Health, Safety & Wellbeing

Location: London (Hybrid)
Rate: £650‑£750 per day (Inside IR35)
Contract: 6-Month Interim Assignment

Bryan & Armstrong are currently recruiting for an experienced Interim Director of Health, Safety & Wellbeing to support a leading organisation within the property management, real estate and construction sectors.

The successful candidate will lead the group’s Health, Safety and Wellbeing strategy across a large and complex portfolio of commercial, residential, mixed‑use and new‑build construction projects. This is a key leadership position requiring strong strategic direction, operational oversight and stakeholder engagement skills to ensure compliance with the Building Safety Act, CDM Regulations and Building Regulations, while promoting a positive and consistent safety culture.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the group’s Health, Safety & Wellbeing (HSW) strategy, governance and performance reporting at board level.
  • Provide leadership for all aspects of health, safety, fire and building safety across development and operational portfolios.
  • Oversee wellbeing initiatives in partnership with the HR/People team.
  • Engage effectively with regulators and stakeholders including HSE, BSR, emergency services and insurers.
  • Drive continuous improvement through performance measures, audits and assurance programmes.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant legislation, company policies and management systems.
Experience & Qualifications
  • NEBOSH Diploma (or equivalent) and Chartered Member of IOSH (CMIOSH).
  • Proven experience leading multi‑disciplinary HSW teams within property management, real estate, commercial & residential estates, and construction environments.
  • Strong understanding of the Building Safety Act, CDM and Building Regulations.
  • Excellent communication, leadership and stakeholder management skills.
  • Strategic mindset with the ability to influence at all levels.
