Job description

You will lead the charity’s external communications strategy, digital presence and brand messaging to amplify Snow Camp’s mission, engage audiences and drive support. The position requires data-driven and creative storytelling while ensuring all communications authentically represent the voices and experiences of the young people we support.

Location: Snow Camp Head Office Hove, East Sussex
Duration of Contract: Permanent
Annual Leave: 33 days p/a (25 + 8 Bank Holidays) FTE

About Snow Camp

Founded in 2003, we are a snowsports charity delivering an accredited journey of snowsports programmes at indoor snow centres and outdoor slopes across the UK. Our programmes provide young people, who would never otherwise have access, with the chance to progress from beginner to trained snowsports instructors in 1 year. In addition to developing their skiing or snowboarding skills, participants gain essential life skills, recognised qualifications and vocational training alongside wellbeing support.

Snow Camp has supported 22,000 young people through our programmes and now we need to harness digital platforms to celebrate their achievements, streamline our operations and amplify our impact. You will be responsible for overseeing the development and implementation of our new digital platform in partnership with Navigatr, ensuring it becomes an integral part of programme delivery enabling every young person to own and share the impact of their Snow Camp journey with confidence.

Essential Requirements
  • 3-5 years’ experience in digital marketing and communications
  • Previous experience in the charity sector or youth services
  • Experience working with children and young people
  • Strong understanding of data analytics, insights and demonstrating impact
  • Strong writing and editing skills across multiple formats and audiences
  • Understanding of safeguarding requirements when working with young people
Desirable
  • Experience managing social media, websites and digital campaigns
  • Knowledge of GDPR and data protection principles
  • To be able to work under pressure and to deadlines
  • Flexibility to travel and visit Snow Camp programmes and events nationally
Key Tasks
  • Develop and implement comprehensive digital and communications strategies aligned with the charity’s goals.
  • Oversee the implementation of the Open Badges platform Navigatr, to create comprehensive reporting dashboards, ensuring the platform reflects the real needs of young people and staff.
  • Embed the platform into programme delivery through training and support and drive the integration of the system across Snow Camp programmes and regions nationally.
  • Manage data capture across Navigatr and Upshot and translate into compelling impact case studies highlighting the impact of Snow Camp and its programmes.
  • Create annual communications plans with clear objectives, target audiences and success metrics.
  • Facilitate youth voice initiatives, ensuring young people can contribute to communications.
  • Manage the Snow Camp website, updates and improvements and optimise content for search engines and user experience.
  • Manage and grow the charity's presence across social media platforms.
  • Manage impact reporting, awareness campaigns and newsletter distribution.
  • Support communications with the Board of Trustees.
  • Build relationships with local and national media contacts.
  • Undertake other duties, training and flexible hours including occasional evenings and weekends. This could include attending fundraising events, programmes and industry events as reasonably required.
