We are a committee-led, inclusive, members’ club with around 150 swimmers from 8 to 60+ years of age in 4 squads with a proud history of developing swimmers at all levels — from grassroots to national performance. We’re passionate about creating a positive, athlete-centred environment that encourages and enables every swimmer to achieve their full potential regardless of age and ability.The Role:This is a part-time, self-employed role. Pool and land training take place during evenings and weekends. As Head Coach, you will develop and lead a high-quality, well-structured and enjoyable training and competition programme, working closely with the coaching team and committee to ensure all our members are developed as people and as athletes.You will:* Be responsible for coaching one of our age group competitive squads, ensuring the swimmers achieve to the highest level they are able and that they enjoy their swimming experience.* Design, plan and deliver annual training programmes aligned with Swim England standards.* Work with the coaching team and committee to plan the competition schedules for the squads and support swimmers at galas to achieve their performance goals.* Oversee squad allocation and performance pathways.* Provide technical coaching excellence across all strokes, levels, and race preparation.* Provide land training for swimmers.* Organise and manage the coaching team meetings and continuing professional development (CPD).* Meet regularly with the committee.* Uphold the highest standards of welfare, inclusion, and safeguarding.Person SpecificationEssential:* Swim England Swimming Coach Certificate/ASA Level 2 Coaching Award and up-to-date Swim England safeguarding training.* A willingness to complete the Swim England Senior Swimming Coach qualification.* To hold or be willing to complete a qualification in strength and conditioning for young people or a Swim England land-based training course.* A proven track record of successfully coaching competitive swimmers.* Strong technical knowledge of competitive swimming.* Experience of successfully leading and managing others.* Excellent communication skills.* Good organisational and administrative skills.* A proven record of being reliable and punctual.* Willingness to keep up to date with the latest developments in both coaching and Swim England expectations.* An understanding of child protection issues: Knowledge of safeguarding and welfare policy, practice and procedure for children in line with the Swim England current Wavepower document.* Willingness to travel to galas, including occasional overnight stays for competitions.Desirable:* Experience in coaching swimmers to national and regional levels of competition.If you’re passionate about coaching, developing swimmers, and leading a thriving club, we’d love to hear from you.## How to applyPlease send your CV with 2 referees and a covering letter outlining your experience and vision for the role via the apply button.Contact phone## Required QualificationsThis vacancy may require the following qualifications:* Coaching Swimming: Swimming Coach Certificate or Level 2 Award
