Hardware Design Engineer

Expleo Group – Barnstaple, England, United Kingdom

We are seeking a Hardware Design Engineer to work with our client, hybrid (2 days minimum onsite) at Barnstaple designing 19” rack systems housing server processors with associated EU, PSU, µP boards & IO boards. The successful candidate will likely have gained this experience working ATP or TE design.

We are looking for an energetic and driven individual, of particular interest would be candidates with aerospace or defence industry experience.

Responsibilities
  • Interpret requirements and deliver designs that meet them using 19” rack systems
  • Produce/direct the production of documentation
  • Assess the need for and contribute any design certification aspects such as LVD and CE marking
  • Follow any client specific processes
Qualifications
  • HNC/HND level qualification in a relevant discipline.
  • A lower qualification would be acceptable for example ONC/OND should the candidate be able to demonstrate significant demonstrable experience in lieu
Essential Skills
  • Clear understanding of the availability, range and use of 19” rack systems from vendors such as Orion, Prism, Canford or nVent
  • Electrical/electronic design, with the ability to create/direct the creation of BOMS, assembly drawings, wire lists, test notes and associated design documentation
  • Understanding of LVD and CE marking
  • Computer literate with Microsoft Office skills (minimum MS Word, Excel, Outlook & Internet)
  • Be able to demonstrate a working knowledge of hand tools, both for mechanical and electrical operations
  • Soldering, crimping, looming, electromechanical assembly
  • Understand the principals and need for production control documentation and traceability
  • Methodical with excellent attention to detail
  • Possess good organisation skills
  • Ability to work proactivity within a team; problem solve when required, and liaise with other Engineering functions to resolve problems
Desired Skills
  • Ability to direct/carry out electrical electronic testing
Experience
  • Experience delivering systems based around 19” rack systems from vendors such as Orion, Prism, Canford or nVent
  • Aware and compliant with Environmental, Health & Safety requirements
  • ATE or Test Equipment design experience is highly valued
