Group Payroll Manager – St Austell – Permanent
💰 Salary: £35,000 – £40,000
📍 Location: Near St Austell
🕒 Hours: 40 hours, Onsite

Are you an experienced payroll professional who thrives in a fast-paced, multi-entity environment? Do you enjoy taking ownership of payroll processes, ensuring compliance, and supporting a smooth HR operation? If so, this could be an excellent next step.

Carrington Wood is delighted to be working with our client to recruit a Group Payroll Manager. This is a hands‑on, varied role that plays a key part in ensuring accurate payroll delivery, strong internal controls, and effective employee support across the group.

What You’ll Be Doing:
  • Running weekly and monthly payrolls across multiple business units
  • Ensuring accurate employee data, department allocation, and cost centre management
  • Managing holiday calendars, entitlements, and reporting issues to senior management
  • Overseeing pension administration and statutory/governing body submissions
  • Handling third‑party reporting and payment obligations
  • Issuing employment contracts and time‑related documentation, following through to completion
  • Supporting HR with ad‑hoc administration and compliance tasks
  • Delivering payroll‑related balance sheet reconciliations, including PAYE, pensions, net wages, deposits, and deductions
  • Maintaining accurate personnel files and employee documentation
  • Managing access fob distribution, returns, and reconciliation
  • Distributing employee hours reports and ensuring time & attendance accuracy with department managers
  • Providing general administrative support, including handling queries

  • Strong payroll experience, ideally within a multi‑site environment
  • Solid understanding of payroll legislation, pensions, and statutory compliance
  • Confident handling reconciliations and financial controls
  • Highly organised with excellent attention to detail
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work cross‑functionally
  • Proactive, adaptable, and comfortable managing a varied workload
