Job summary

A professional football club in Norwich is seeking an experienced Grounds Supervisor to maintain high-quality pitches and lead the maintenance team. The ideal candidate will have at least 2–3 years in the sports turf industry, excellent communication skills, and knowledge of modern turf technology. Job description

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced candidate to join the Grounds department at Norwich City Football Club as a Grounds Supervisor.

This is an excellent role for someone who is passionate about delivering top-quality playing surfaces, confident in operating and maintaining grounds equipment, and motivated to lead by example within a professional sports environment.

In this role, you will be part of a professional football club with elite-level training facilities and have the opportunity to work with state-of-the-art machinery and equipment, contributing directly to the performance and success of our First Team and Academy.

Key tasks/responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Maintain high-quality First Team and Academy pitches across indoor and outdoor facilities.
  • Support the Head of Grounds and lead the team when required, ensuring daily tasks align with departmental standards and vision.
  • Operate a wide range of grounds-maintenance machinery safely, providing guidance to staff and carrying out routine pre-start checks.
  • Undertake equipment maintenance, keeping all machinery in excellent condition, and ensuring accurate stock and record-keeping for materials and assets.
  • Assist in the delivery of end-of-season maintenance programmes.
  • Maintain goals, nets, ball-stop netting, and landscaped areas across all Club sites, including mowing, strimming, hedge trimming, planting, and general grounds upkeep.
  • Act in a manner that supports the Club’s Values of Growth, Integrity, Belonging, Resilience, Pride and Commitment
Qualifications and Experience:
  • Minimum 2/3 years in the sports turf industry.
  • Achieved a NVQ Level 2/3 in sports turf or equivalent.
  • Achieved PA1, PA6 and 2A spraying certification.
  • Achieved IOSH Qualified would be beneficial.
  • Strong knowledge of modern turf technology and machinery, including equipment set-up and maintenance protocols.
  • Good understanding of turf products and the ability to support the delivery of a high-quality turf nutrition programme.
  • Good knowledge of SGL lighting equipment and ability to maintain the equipment.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to show leadership potential, preferably with line manager experience.
