Join BioOrbit – Where Science Meets Space

At BioOrbit, we’re redefining pharmaceutical manufacturing… in orbit. Founded in 2023, we’re the UK’s fastest-growing biotech company harnessing the power of microgravity to develop next-generation drug delivery systems. Our technology enables the crystallisation of pharmaceuticals in space to improve stability and transform how therapies reach patients from hospitals to homes.

If you want to help shape the future of medicine while working at the intersection of biotech, space, and innovation, this is your opportunity.

Overview

We’re seeking a Grant Writer to lead BioOrbit’s grant strategy and expand our portfolio of research and innovation projects. This role involves shaping partnerships and networks that underpin BioOrbit’s mission, identifying high-value opportunities across the international grant landscape, and building collaborations with academic institutions, industry leaders, and space agencies to secure funding for groundbreaking science.

If you’re motivated by big ideas, collaborative science, and the chance to influence the future of space-enabled biotechnology, we want to hear from you.

What You’ll Do
  • Lead the grants pipeline: Monitor funding landscapes across national, EU, and international programmes to identify opportunities aligned with BioOrbit’s mission.
  • Write winning applications: Develop compelling, compliant funding proposals that translate complex science into persuasive narratives.
  • Build strategic partnerships: Forge and coordinate multi-partner consortia across academia, industry, and government agencies.
  • Support internal teams: Work with scientists, engineers, and business leaders to turn research ambitions into competitive proposals.
  • Manage the process: Oversee timelines, submissions, and funder reporting to keep projects on track.
  • Represent BioOrbit externally: Attend events, workshops, and networking opportunities to expand our partnerships and funding reach.
What We’re Looking For
  • Degree in Life Sciences, Biotechnology, Engineering, Chemistry, or a related field
  • Proven track record of successful grant writing in biotech, life sciences, or space tech
  • Experience building and managing multi-partner, cross-border proposals
  • Strong knowledge of key funding bodies (e.g., Innovate UK, Horizon Europe, ESA, NIH, NSF)
  • Excellent writing, editing, and communication skills
  • Project management and organisational expertise with the ability to juggle multiple deadlines
  • PhD or advanced degree in a relevant field
  • Familiarity with IP, legal, and contractual aspects of collaborative research grants
  • Knowledge of commercialisation pathways and industry–academic partnerships
Why Join BioOrbit?
  • Be part of a mission-driven company transforming medicine through space technology
  • Work in a collaborative, science-led culture with cutting-edge innovation at its core
  • Competitive salary & benefits package
  • Real opportunities for career growth and leadership as we scale
