Sanders Vets is a friendly and forward-thinking small animal practice located in Cwmbran, Wales. The practice is situated in an excellent location only a 10 minute walk from Cwmbran train station, close to major bus routes and only 20 minutes’ drive from the city of Newport, Gwent and 30 minutes from Cardiff.

Sanders is made up of a supportive and experienced team of 3 Vets, 6 Nurses as well as a great support team of 1 Veterinary Care Assistant, 3 Receptionists, 1 Administrator and a Practice Manager. The team includes a Clinical Director currently completing an Ophthalmology certificate and a vet with a Certificate in Advanced Veterinary Practice (Feline Medicine). Several of our nurses hold certificates in Nurse Consulting, Feline Nursing, Dog Training, and some are working towards an Anaesthesia certificate.

The practice has fantastic facilities, including four consulting rooms, a dedicated discharge and euthanasia room, a double operating theatre, a large prep room, separate kennels and cattery, a dental suite equipped with dental x-ray, and an imaging room featuring ultrasound, endoscopy, and x-ray. We also have in-house Idexx lab machines, patient warming systems, capnography, and much more to support advanced veterinary care.

We are currently looking for a full-time Graduate Veterinary Surgeon to join our team. The role involves working 40 hours per week across four days, with two days dedicated to operations and two days to consultations. Shifts run between 9am and 6:45pm, with a 1 in 3 Saturday morning clinic from 9am to 12pm. There are no out-of-hours or bank holiday duties.

You will benefit from the support of our experienced vets, with a dedicated vet mentor providing one-to-one support and weekly meetings initially. You will have the opportunity to shadow senior vets and spend time with the reception and nurse teams before gradually taking on a more advanced caseload and surgical responsibilities as your skills develop.
