What You’ll Be Doing as a SEND Graduate Teaching Assistant

Depending on your placement, you may:

  • Work 1:1 with students who have autism, ADHD, learning difficulties or SEMH needs
  • Support small groups with tailored learning and emotional regulation
  • Assist with communication strategies, sensory routines, and social skills interventions
  • Help implement EHCP targets and personalised support plans
  • Support teachers in adapting lesson materials and behaviour strategies
  • Build consistent, trusting relationships with students who need stability and understanding
  • Encourage independence, confidence, and positive behaviour
