About The Opportunity

Our Water and Environment Business Unit focuses on River Engineering and Flood Risk Management solutions, including flood defence structures, weirs, gates, sluices, flood storage reservoirs, natural flood management, habitat creation, hydrometric gauging facilities and fish passes. The Water Catchment Management team comprises over 400 staff in the UK and Europe, with reach into the Middle East, Australasia and America. We deliver sustainable environmental solutions across sectors in integrated catchment management.

As a Graduate Hydrogeologist you will join a national team of over 18 hydrogeologists, working across engineering hydrogeology, water resources and sustainability, land quality and remediation, environmental hydrogeology, permitting and legislation. You will be part of a multi-disciplinary team delivering projects for clients such as utilities/water companies, local authorities, Network Rail, National Highways, Environment Agency, SEPA, and other major infrastructure providers. Tasks may include identifying how a water company can meet environmental flow targets, designing and undertaking pumping tests, groundwater control for excavations, groundwater impact appraisals for wetlands/peatlands, and more. You will gain exposure to a wide range of projects and will be supported to grow in areas of your interest.

The role is based in the Jacobs graduate intake with a focus on developing your career in hydrogeology.
