Role Description

Are you looking to put your academic learning into practice and turn your passion for Ecology into a career? This role offers training and mentoring to develop field craft and consultancy skills from a team of ecology experts, with exposure to a range of habitat and protected species surveys, desktop studies, data analysis, and report writing. The position is part of Tetra Techs Early Careers Programme, with opportunities for mentoring, Chartership support, bonuses, and more.

Responsibilities
  • Support and assist senior ecologists on habitat and protected species surveys (including bats, reptiles, amphibians, otters, barn owls), desktop studies, data analysis, and report writing.
  • Develop field craft and consultancy skills as part of a professional ecology team.
  • Contribute to fee proposals and project delivery in multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Work with colleagues across the wider business on multi-disciplinary opportunities and projects.
About the Ecology Team

Over 90 permanent ecologists across 14 offices, offering internal and external training and mentoring. The team emphasizes flexible working, career progression, and opportunities to achieve Chartered Ecologist status through CIEEM.

Qualifications / Skills
  • Minimum 2:1 Degree or equivalent in ecology, conservation, or a related discipline.
  • Student or qualifying member of CIEEM (or evidence of working towards it).
  • Understanding of ecological survey principles and mitigation work.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and occasional early mornings.
  • Willingness to travel for work and valid UK driving licence (vehicle access preferred).
  • Ability to obtain SC clearance and DBS check.
