Overview

Graduate Ecologist role at Tetra Tech Europe. Start date: Summer 2026. Location: Southampton, Bristol or Cardiff.

Role Title

Graduate Ecologist

What you will do
  • Support and assist our ecologists on a range of habitat and protected species surveys including bats, reptiles, amphibians, otters, barn owls, desktop studies, data analysis and report writing.
  • Develop field craft and consultancy skills as part of a professional team in the outdoors.
  • Work on exciting, ground-breaking projects and receive training to develop core skills needed to succeed in a professional organisation.
  • Engage with the Early Careers Programme, with mentoring, Chartership support, bonuses and more.
About The Ecology Team
  • Over 90 permanent ecologists across 14 offices.
  • Flexible working enabled by IT systems; proximity to an office is not a barrier.
  • Site-based cars or car allowances for all team members; TOIL system for time management.
  • Career frameworks with clear progression; internal and external training and mentoring.
  • Support for personal development and Chartered Ecologist status through CIEEM.
  • Collaborative culture with Planners, Archaeologists, Landscape Architects, Masterplanners and Engineers.
Qualifications/Skills
  • Minimum 2:1 degree in ecology, conservation or related discipline.
  • Student or qualifying member of CIEEM (or working towards).
  • Understanding of ecological survey and mitigation principles.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours (including evenings and occasionally early mornings).
  • Willingness to travel for work; valid UK driving licence and ideally access to a vehicle.
  • Ability to obtain SC clearance and DBS check.
