About the Opportunity

Amentum’s Energy business is entering an exciting phase: supporting a key client’s UK nuclear fleet through transformation and working with new small and advanced modular reactor developers. Projects span licensing, new build, life extension, defueling, renewable energy, data centres, and hydrogen production facilities.

We’re looking for a driven, collaborative individual eager to make an impact and help our clients achieve safety, performance and net‑zero goals.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support civil and structural design and construction preparation for nuclear and energy projects.
  • Capture requirements and adopt a systems engineering approach.
  • Contribute across the project lifecycle — from bid generation, through concept and detailed design, to construction.
  • Prepare safety case inputs such as Safety Functional Requirements (SFRs), Structural Design Method Statements (SDMSs), and Design Substantiation Reports (DSRs).
  • Develop technical deliverables including Interpretive Reports, Basis of Design, Finite Element Modelling and Analyses, Calculations, CDM documentation, Material Specifications, Scopes of Work, and Technical Reports.
  • Assist in design safety documentation and ensure compliance with nuclear safety standards.
  • Participate in site surveys and inspections.
  • Support problem‑solving, technical investigations, and root‑cause analysis.
  • Produce high‑quality technical reports.
  • Build and maintain relationships with peers, partners, and clients.
We Are Looking For Candidates Who
  • Have completed an undergraduate or master’s degree in a relevant field by summer 2026.
  • Possess strong communication, interpersonal, and collaborative skills.
  • Are proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
  • Show enthusiasm, curiosity, and a willingness to learn from experienced professionals.
  • Demonstrate analytical thinking and problem‑solving ability.
  • Can work effectively both within a team and independently.
  • Feature excellent organisation and time‑management skills.
  • Are proactive, curious, and eager to take ownership and seek growth opportunities.
  • Are flexible and willing to travel to client sites if required.
You Must Be
  • A flexible self‑starter keen to drive your career forward.
  • Adaptable to change.
  • Permitted to work permanently in the UK.
Graduate Programme Eligibility
  • Completed your first degree no earlier than summer 2024.
  • Have not worked in a similar professional role since graduation.
