Job Summary

We have an exciting opportunity to join our award‑winning company as a Global Regulatory Compliance Specialist in our Global Regulatory & Validation Services (GRV) team. This is a global role with a primary focus on providing compliance expertise and support and helping to shape the future of the company with respect to the evolving compliance requirements for our products.

Reporting to the Global Regulatory Compliance Manager, this is a key role within the Global Regulatory Compliance team and is part of the growing Strategic Business Development (SBD) Function for Watson Marlow Fluid Technology Solutions (WMFTS). The Global Regulatory Compliance Specialist will be responsible for supporting the compliance of products and services within the company, with specific focus on materials compliance for all WMFTS products. They will utilise Subject Matter Expertise (SME) in both Chemistry/Materials Science, as well as materials compliance regulations to advise the business on requirements and review supplier statements, datasheets and test reports to assess compliance. The Materials Compliance Specialist will take a lead role in the design, development, implementation and maintenance of a Global Materials Compliance process which will encompass the procurement, review and management of supplier compliance documentation, as well as the generation, approval and distribution of compliance statements for each WMFTS product.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maturing WMFTS’ approach to materials compliance for both new and current products.
  • Developing as a subject matter expert for materials compliance requirements for products covered by the WML brand in key territories, for example EU and UK REACH, EU and GB RoHS, POPs, China REACH and RoHS, TSCA, California Proposition 65 etc.
  • Identify and interpret applicable global materials regulations to the product, market, and industry within the New Product Innovation (NPI), advising the Design & Engineering teams on restricted substances, preferred materials, and regional compliance requirements.
  • Proactively monitoring updates to key materials compliance regulations, developing strategies and overseeing action plans to ensure continued compliance.
  • Develop global compliance statement templates for core materials compliance requirements.
  • Support Engineering Change Requests (ECRs) and Supplier Change Notifications by conducting materials compliance impact assessments to assess implications of supplier changes and material substitutions.
  • Developing and refining WMFTS’ regulatory compliance processes through the WMFTS continuous improvement programme.
  • Follow all relevant policies and processes required to deliver on the purpose of the job.
Skills/Experience
  • A degree in Chemistry, or relevant Scientific / Engineering degree, or equivalent technical experience.
  • Knowledge of Chemistry and/or Materials Science.
  • Understanding of Regulatory Compliance and Governance.
  • Strong IT skills including experience of working with large volumes of data and documentation in ERP or PLM systems.
  • Excellent customer relationship skills and the ability to build good business relationships across a wide variety of cultures.
  • Experience in taking complex data or information and clearly communicating this information simply for stakeholders.
  • A can‑do attitude with a focus on delivery and the ability to meet tight deadlines.
  • Curiosity, problem solving skills and a desire to learn.
