Responsibilities
- Lead VAT/GST compliance and savings across the UK/EU, UAE, Canada, and additional global jurisdictions.
- Manage UAE Designated Zone / Free Trade Zone (FTZ) VAT treatment for goods, including inbound/outbound flows, warehouse storage rules, and proof-of-export documentation.
- Oversee U.S. indirect tax obligations including Texas inventory property tax, multi‑state sales & use tax, and environmental/packaging taxes where applicable.
- Manage the indirect tax compliance calendar, ensuring timely and accurate filings, audits, and submissions across all jurisdictions.
- Review and maintain indirect tax settings and tax determination rules in NetSuite (ERP) and Avalara.
Customs, Duties & International Trade
- Ensure compliance with UK/EU customs rules, U.S. CBP valuation, UAE/GCC import/export regulations.
- Work with logistics and external customs brokers to ensure accurate documentation and tariff application.
- Execute U.S. duty drawback.
- Oversee HTS/commodity classification, country‑of‑origin determinations, customs valuation, and duty calculations globally.
Cross‑Functional Partnership
- Supply Chain on cross‑border inventory flows
- Logistics on import/export documentation
- Compliance & Commercial on VAT clauses, international contract terms, and tax nexus review
Qualifications
- 5+ years in tax.
- Experience in beauty, consumer packaged goods (CPG), or retail.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Taxation, Business (with a tax focus), or Economics.
- Bonus points for professional certifications such as CTA, LLM in Taxation, CPA, etc.
- Experience with import/export, VAT, and inventory designations.
- Willingness to learn.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
