Overview

We are growing our Ground Engineering capabilities within the UK and are seeking to recruit Geotechnical Design Engineers at a range of experience levels to support a global portfolio of geotechnical projects in Defence, Nuclear Power, Environment and Government-Owned Critical Infrastructure.

Role and Positions
  • Geotechnical Design Engineer
  • Senior Geotechnical Design Engineer (Chartered or approaching)
Responsibilities
  • Deliver geotechnical assessment, analysis, design and construction supervision for a diverse range of existing and future projects across the UK and internationally.
  • Lead preliminary source, feasibility, value engineering, innovation and sustainability studies.
  • Coordinate land and overwater ground investigations, including advanced in situ and laboratory testing and data management.
  • Characterise ground conditions, parametrize and model soil and rock; perform numerical and finite element analyses of geotechnical problems (including seismic and dynamic analysis).
  • Design geotechnical works for innovative and sustainable structures, including routine and complex design within soil and rock, SSI and seismic SSSI, deep and shallow foundations, retaining walls, basements, cofferdams, earthworks, reinforced earth and geotextiles, ground improvement (vibrational, mixing and grouting), ground anchors, soil nails and rock bolts.
  • Create specifications for construction purposes and provide technical construction assurance.
Qualifications and Experience
  • Knowledge of ground engineering with a focus on geotechnical design.
  • Relevant experience with geotechnical standards and Codes of Practice.
  • Ground Investigation experience.
  • Geotechnical analysis, design and technical reporting experience covering deep/shallow foundations, basements, retaining structures, excavations, earthworks, ground treatment, soil/rock reinforcement and ground anchors.
  • Degree in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, Engineering Geology, or equivalent (BEng, MEng, MSc).
Location and Working Arrangements

We operate under flexible working arrangements with a mix of office-based and home working. Bristol would be the preferred base office, but other offices such as Oxford, Reading, London or Glasgow can also be considered.
