Location: Hertfordshire
Pay Rate: £16–£20 per hour (depending on experience)

Driving Requirement: Must hold a valid UK driving licence and be confident driving the client’s vehicle

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced, reliable, and compassionate Complex Care Carer to support an individual living with a spinal cord injury in their own home in Hertfordshire. The role involves delivering high-quality person-centred care, promoting dignity and independence, and supporting the client with day-to-day living, rehabilitation goals, and community access.

Care is required across both day and night shifts, including weekends on a rota basis.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide personalised care, including moving & handling, personal care, and pressure care management
  • Assist with medication administration in line with care plans
  • Support daily living activities such as meal preparation, household tasks, and organisation
  • Use specialist equipment safely (hoists, wheelchairs, etc.) – full training can be provided
  • Drive the client to appointments, social activities, and community outings
  • Monitor and record observations, changes in condition, and care notes
  • Work collaboratively with family members and healthcare professionals
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and positive home environment
  • Deliver overnight support, ensuring safety, comfort, and assistance as required
Requirements
  • Previous experience in complex care, spinal injury care, or similar high-needs environments (essential)
  • Confident in moving & handling and using care equipment
  • Valid UK driving licence (essential)
  • Ability to work days, nights, weekends, and flexible shifts
  • Strong communication skills and a calm, patient manner
  • Right to work in the UK
  • Enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain one)
Desirable
  • Training in bowel care, catheter care, ventilator or cough-assist support (if applicable)
  • NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Health & Social Care
  • Experience supporting clients in community settings
