Gastroenterology Consultant

Job ref 362-A-25-7518680. Location: Stockport NHS Foundation Trust, Stepping Hill Hospital, Stockport. Grade Consultant (contract permanent). Full-time, 10 sessions per week (1:1 on‑call supplement). Salary pro rata £105,504 – £139,882 per annum.

Job Summary

Manage gastroenterology patients and participate in the GI Bleed and consultant‑of‑the‑week rotas. Supervise, teach and mentor junior medical staff, medical students and specialist nurses. Engage in departmental audit, research and quality improvement initiatives.

Main Duties and Responsibilities
  • Lead clinical care of gastroenterology patients.
  • Participate in the GI Bleed rota and consultant‑of‑the‑week schedule.
  • Supervise, teach and mentor junior doctors and other clinical staff.
  • Engage in departmental audits, research programmes and quality‑improvement projects.
  • Safeguard and promote the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults in line with Trust policies.
Person Specification
  • Recognised UK medical qualification.
  • MRCP (favourable).
  • Experience supervising junior medical staff.
  • Knowledge of Clinical Governance.
