Qualifications

  • Hold a Teaching qualification - minimum Cert Ed or PGCE.
  • Hold a Degree or equivalent.
  • Hold at least a Level 2 qualification in Literacy and Numeracy.
  • Have experience of implementing continuous quality assurance procedures.
  • Demonstrate effective communication and interpersonal skills.

We have a great opportunity available to join Novus, our prison education provider at HMP Manchester, working as a Functional Skills Curriculum Manager. This role is offered on a permanent, full-time basis, working 37 hours per week.

Site Information

HMP Manchester is a Category A and B men’s prison in Manchester, England. Established in 1868 and designed by Alfred Waterhouse, it is known for its iconic ventilation tower and long-standing role as a high-security facility. HMP Manchester serves as a local prison for remanded prisoners awaiting trial and sentencing, as well as those serving long-term sentences and is committed to rehabilitation, offering educational programs, vocational training, and support services aimed at reducing reoffending.

Skills, Qualifications and Experience
  • Hold a Teaching qualification - minimum Cert Ed or PGCE
  • Hold a Degree or equivalent (including equivalent life / career experience)
  • Hold at least a Level 2 qualification in Literacy and Numeracy
  • Have experience of implementing continuous quality assurance procedures
  • Have a track record successful partnership working
  • Demonstrate effective communication and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrate an ability to motivate and enthuse teams
  • Have excellent organisational skills to prioritise workload, and meet challenging deadlines and targets
  • Have experience of analysing trends and identifying impact on curriculum
  • Have good IT Skills
  • Have experience or proven ability to deliver Functional Skills Maths and English to Level 2
  • Be able to demonstrate an ability to effectively manage a Functional Skills Team
