Overview

The opportunity is to join as a Financial Planning Technician (Paraplanner) on a fixed-term basis of 6 months minimum. You will provide recommendations, financial analysis, technical and research support to Financial Planners to deliver excellent client service and outcomes. You will act as a point of contact for clients, handle queries, and prepare client files for review meetings, with occasional attendance at review meetings with Financial Planners. You will be passionate about client care, focused on excellence, and committed to learning and growing, building deep relationships with clients and colleagues to improve the client experience. This role offers a great opportunity and scope to:

  • Become a technical expert in a particular specialism, with regular development conversations.
  • Work towards the Advanced Diploma in Financial Planning and Chartered Status.
  • Explore career paths and growth opportunities within the Paraplanning Centre of Excellence or by becoming a Financial Planner.

Location: This role will be based in our Nottingham office. We operate hybrid working, enabling balance between home and office working and connecting with colleagues.

What you will be doing

As a Financial Planning Technician, you will complete paraplanning tasks with responsibility for:

  • Research and analysis: conduct in-depth research to identify suitable solutions and present cashflow modelling scenarios to clients as required.
  • Technical work: prepare suitability letters and reports for annual reviews and new business, and prepare tax calculations and financial plans for clients.
  • Liaising with providers: contact external providers to obtain information about existing and potential investments.
  • Client requirements: determine client objectives and priorities, including understanding client attitudes to risk and capacity for loss.
  • Managing documentation: prepare client files for review meetings and maintain them compliantly throughout the client advice journey.
  • Compliance and regulation: follow FCA principles and adhere to relevant regulations, rules and procedures that apply to the role.
  • Supporting the team: share expertise and best practice with others and assist with complex client matters; carry out peer reviews.
  • Technical knowledge: dedicate time to meet continuing professional development requirements and maintain product and technical knowledge.
Location

This role will be based in our Nottingham office. We operate hybrid working enabling home and office working, allowing you to balance your personal responsibilities and connect with colleagues.

About you

To thrive and be successful in the role you will be/need:

  • Financial Services experience – possess sound understanding of financial advice, FCA principles and regulatory standards with experience using a range of provider products, services and capabilities.
  • Technical knowledge – possess the Level 4 Diploma in Financial Planning.
  • Methodical and organised – able to work autonomously and manage your own workload effectively to produce thorough work that meets client needs.
  • Excellent writing skills – skilled in compiling suitability reports and other documentation with clear, accurate and concise writing.
  • Exemplary communication and relationship-building – collaborative approach to working with Financial Planners and colleagues to ensure great client service and outcomes.
  • Passion for sharing knowledge – motivated to share expertise, solve problems with others, and coach colleagues to support development.
  • Great tech skills – proficiency in Microsoft Office (advanced Word/Excel) and knowledge of provider platforms.
