We’re expanding our team and are seeking a Project Finance Manager to join us. The position is based in our London office, with the option to be located in Paris.

Role Overview

The Project Finance Manager is responsible for managing the financial aspects of large-scale projects, including structuring, financing, budgeting, risk assessment, and ensuring compliance with financial regulations. This role involves collaboration with internal teams, external lenders, investors, and other stakeholders to secure and manage project funding effectively.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop complex financial models to assess project feasibility and profitability.
  • Structure financing solutions, including debt, equity, and hybrid instruments.
  • Evaluate financial risks related to the environment (countries / utilities / etc) and recommend mitigation strategies.
  • Identify potential lenders, investors, and financial institutions.
  • Negotiate terms for loans, bonds, or equity financing.
Stakeholder Engagement
  • Collaborate with legal, tax, and technical teams to align financial strategies.
  • Prepare and present financial reports to senior management, investors, and lenders.
  • Maintain relationships with banks, financial institutions, and rating agencies.
Coordination and Reporting
  • Provide regular updates on project status, challenges, and achievements to senior management.
  • Obtain internal approval of the financing strategy from the management team, through a detailed presentation.
  • Prepare and present financial reports to senior management, investors, and lenders.
Project Finance Activities
  • Liaises with other departments (development, legal, supply chain management, etc.) to support project finance activities.
  • Report regularly on activities, project progress, and missions.
  • Travel when necessary to support activities.
Required Qualifications & Experience
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree
  • 5–10 years of experience in project finance, ideally in emerging markets and with DFIs
  • Knowledge of energy regulation and power sector frameworks in African countries
  • Knowledge of PPA structures, IPP models
  • Excellent organizational skills with ability to multi-task and prioritize
  • Strong interpersonal and negotiation skills, with cross-cultural sensitivity
  • Ability to work independently
  • Fluency in English and French required
