Please note, this role can be based out of our London, Coventry or Manchester Store Support Centre & Home. Colleagues go into the office 1‑2 days per week on average.

Joining the Finance team at Sainsbury's offers a unique opportunity to be a key player in driving performance and influencing decisions within the Argos Stock division. As part of the Central Trading Finance department, you will have the chance to work closely with commercial stakeholders, providing valuable insights and analysis to support business growth and success. What you’ll do

As a Finance Analyst – Argos Stock at Sainsbury’s, you will play a crucial role in partnering with Operational and Commercial stakeholders to drive performance within the business area. Working closely with the finance manager and senior finance manager, you will deliver insightful financial information to review and maximise actual performance, track the financial impact of action plans and projects, and provide analytical support and reporting commentary to the commercial teams. Your responsibilities will include delivering timely and accurate reporting, planning, budgeting, and forecasting activities, as well as performing ad hoc analysis to assess the success of trading initiatives. Additionally, you will manage relationships with stakeholders, contribute to key meetings, and have influence over stock and working capital decisions within the Argos business, utilising your strong commercial acumen, analytical skills, and ability to present complex information clearly.

Who you are

You are a part or fully qualified accountant with a strong commercial acumen and the ability to understand key business performance drivers. Your analytical skills, attention to detail, and experience in business-facing finance roles equip you to deliver timely and accurate financial reporting, analysis, and forecasting activities to drive performance improvements within the Argos Central Trading Finance division. With your strong interpersonal skills, empathetic nature, and proactive engagement with key stakeholders, you play a critical role in influencing decisions related to stock, working capital, and the Trading P&L to support the overall success of the business.

  • Qualified accountant or actively studying towards a recognised accounting qualification
  • Proven commercial acumen and ability to understand key business performance drivers; Stock and working capital background is desirable
