Qualifications

Job description
Overview

A vacancy has arisen for a Field Service Engineer for our Ship to Shore Cranes (STS), Rubber Tyred Gantry Cranes (RTG) & Rail Mounted Gantry Cranes (RMG). The role contributes to the success of Liebherr-Great Britain Ltd by carrying out maintenance and repair work on equipment at customer premises or on site, ensuring quality standards and timelines for repair are optimised at all times, leading to increased customer confidence and repeat business while working within the Company’s key result areas: Business Performance, Customer Focus, People and Teamwork, Leadership.

Your Responsibilities
  • Carry out servicing, inspection and repair of Ship to Shore Cranes (STS), RTG & RMG products at customer premises or on site, or at the depot when required.
  • Electrical and PLC fault diagnosis and repair.
  • Hydraulic fault diagnosis and repair.
  • Diesel engine service and repair (desirable).
  • Working at heights and safe working practices.
  • Assist in repair, building and dismantling of Ship to Shore, Rail / Rubber Tyre Gantry Cranes.
  • Work to reasonable deadlines and manage own time to comply with company expectations.
  • Work closely with Technical for support and training.
  • Diagnose specific fault issues and act appropriately.
  • Return warranty and other parts cleaned and on time, ensuring correct packing and labeling.
  • Read, understand and file all service information.
  • Undertake all work strictly in compliance with manufacturer guidelines and recommendations.
  • Escalate actions related to broken or damaged company equipment.
  • Develop an effective working relationship with the depot support team and assist others where required.
  • Maintain a healthy and safe working environment and understand workplace safety requirements and systems.
  • Support the roles of others, ensuring administration and paperwork are completed effectively and on time as required.
  • Develop outstanding rapport with customers and coordinate with them to understand needs, adopting a flexible approach to meet those needs.
  • Maintain quality work standards and ensure the repair site is clean and left in a condition that satisfies the customer; work in accordance with company quality assurance guidelines.
  • Contribute to recognising and improving work processes to drive greater efficiency.
  • Maintain a professional personal image and vehicle condition/cleanliness to an exceptional standard.
  • Proactively seek opportunities to develop personal skills and apply them in the field; undertake any other duties as required by management.
  • Be available to work additional hours as reasonably required, including a rota-based out-of-hours customer support if implemented.
To be successful

The successful candidate will require the following:

  • GCSEs grade A to C – 9 to 4 (or equivalent) in Maths and English.
  • Completion of a recognised apprenticeship to NVQ level 3 or equivalent in a related industry.
  • Electrical and PLC knowledge.
  • Full clean driving license.
