Overview

Female Personal Assistant for Spinal Injured Guy 20-hrs pw daytime support - WAKEFIELD - WF2

Responsibilities

• Assist with all aspects of daily life, including personal care and domestic tasks, as well as activities such as daily keep fit, wheelchair rugby, cycling, swimming, art & craft projects, gardening, woodwork and socialising, and occasional trips further away.
• Work under direction and follow advice from experienced PAs; progress may involve using your own initiative.

Qualifications/Requirements

• Some experience of providing care is preferred, but not essential. A good work ethic and a genuine interest in providing the best possible care are important.
• Must be willing to learn how to do the job under supervision and develop autonomy over time.

About me

I have a C5/6 spinal cord injury (broken neck): complete paralysis below the shoulders and partial paralysis of both arms, no hand or finger dexterity and wheelchair bound. I need assistance with all aspects of personal care as well as domestic chores. I am active and enjoy life with a sense of humour, and I strive for independence in all I do.

Training

During an induction/shadow shift, you will be guided through tasks listed in the job description.

Times Required

A typical shift starts 10:00am – 14:00. Additional daytime hours available.

New starter for this vacancy: 5 x 4 hour daytime shifts, plus additional training where necessary.
