Facilities Management Operative

Location

This role is based in the North East England covering Newcastle Upon Tyne, Durham, Sunderland and surrounding areas.

Accountabilities
  • Supervise third‑party service providers to ensure adherence to contractual obligations
  • Conduct regular inspections to ensure facilities are well‑maintained and compliant with safety regulations.
  • Ensure physical security measures are in place and functioning effectively.
  • Respond/ provide 1st level support to and resolve facilities‑related maintenance issues and emergencies promptly.
  • Perform planned site maintenance tasks and inspections on allocated sites / buildings across the Corporate and Technical estate.
  • Complete all maintenance and repair electronic forms and attach required photos providing accurate information.
  • Perform site quality inspections on sites allocated to third‑party contractors.
  • Deliver building fabric, grounds maintenance, fence and gate repairs as required.
  • Deliver statutory site safety and compliance tasks e.g. Legionella, Fire, Asbestos.
  • Maintain a Safety‑First working environment with the wider team.
  • Respond to and resolve facilities‑related issues and emergencies promptly.
  • Exceptional customer support and resolution feedback.
  • Efficient time management within SLA / Productivity.
  • Responsible for managing parts / inventory on their vehicles to enable 1st time fix.

  • Time Management – ability to manage time effectively and prioritise tasks in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Communication skills – collaborate with cross‑functional teams, present technical info and provide training or support.
  • Project management – ability to manage one or multiple projects or project tasks and meet deadlines.

  • Site and Facilities Management skills along with tools and safety equipment e.g. Plumbing, Drainage, Painting, Carpentry, Bricklayer, roofing, landscaping and grounds maintenance, heating and boilers.
  • Health and safety – Knowledge of health and safety regulations and best practices.
Knowledge & Experience
  • A professional certification in facilities management or a related field or related experience is advantageous.
  • Highly experienced in safely using a range of tools, equipment, and machinery relevant to the role.
  • Flexibility in working hours / locations, incl. emergencies.
  • Practical expertise in maintenance tasks plumbing, painting, carpentry, roofing, landscaping, and fencing, heating systems, boilers, drainage.
  • Willing to upskill to take on new tasks.
  • Successful history of managing van stock.
  • Working knowledge of and able to apply Safety, Health and Environment legislation, policies and procedures.
  • Clean driving licence.
