Job description

DLG is evolving. Across every part of our business, teams are embracing new opportunities and putting customers at the heart of everything they do. Whether you're already part of DLG or thinking about joining us, you'll have the chance not only to be recognised for your skills, but also to build on them and be empowered to do your very best.

We're looking for a driven External Reporting Manager to join our Finance team. In this role, you'll take ownership of the end-to-end production of statutory accounts across our insurance and non-insurance entities, ensuring accuracy, compliance and continuous improvement in our reporting processes.

You'll thrive here if you're curious and confident — someone who doesn't stop at “I don't know”, but instead finds the answer, connects the dots and drives things forward.

What you'll be doing
  • Lead the end-to-end preparation of statutory accounts for all insurance and non-insurance entities.
  • Ensure reporting is accurate, compliant, and delivered on time in line with IFRS and regulatory standards.
  • Support the delivery of consolidated financial information for Group reporting.
  • Oversee the year‑end reporting timetable, coordinating activities with the EXL team and internal stakeholders.
  • Provide input on complex accounting areas such as goodwill impairment, onerous contracts, and detailed account analysis.
  • Review, challenge and interpret financial variances to provide meaningful insight.
  • Manage verification processes for financial and non-financial disclosures, liaising with external auditors.
  • Build strong relationships across Finance, Risk, HR, and Aviva to support a smooth reporting cycle.
  • Drive process improvements and strengthen reporting controls.

Our hybrid model offers a ‘best of both worlds’ approach. When you'll be in the office depends on your role and team, but colleagues spend at least 2 days a week in our London Riverbank House office.

What you'll need
  • Part of qualified ACA, ACCA or equivalent (Big 4 experience highly desirable).
  • Strong knowledge of IFRS and external reporting frameworks.
  • Proven experience in statutory and group financial reporting.
  • Excellent analytical and problem‑solving skills, with the ability to interpret and communicate technical insights clearly.
  • A proactive, self‑starter mindset — you take ownership, find solutions and drive progress.
  • Collaborative, organised and detail‑focused, able to deliver under pressure while keeping sight of the bigger picture.
Benefits
  • 9% employer‑contributed pension.
  • 50% off home, motor and pet insurance plus free Green Flag breakdown cover.
  • Additional optional Health and Dental insurance.
  • Buy‑as‑you‑earn share scheme.
  • Employee discounts and cashback.
  • Plus, many more.
  • Working at DLG offers flexibility, real choice, and a greater work‑life balance that lets you focus on the things that matter most.
  • Pension contributions of 9% of your salary toward your pension.
  • Income protection on 50% of your salary for 5 years.
  • Life assurance cover at four times your salary.
  • Free Green Flag breakdown cover.
  • 50% off Direct Line Group products in Motor, Home and Pet insurance when you're named on the policy.
  • Discounts and cashback savings across hundreds of other well‑known brands.
  • Flexible benefits scheme allows you to adjust your income protection, life assurance, and benefits package.
  • Salary sacrifice scheme for fully electric and plug‑in hybrid cars, and for private dental and medical cover.
  • Enhanced maternity, paternity, shared parental, and emergency dependant leave.
  • Employee Assistance Programme (EAP) for financial and mental wellbeing, plus emergency support and advice.
  • Trained mental health first aiders (MHFA) for support whenever you need it.
  • Volunteering opportunities through our partnership with Neighbourly.
  • Up to £50 a month to match any contributions you make to your local community.
