Overview
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Structural Integrity Engineer with a passion for managing and extending the life of ageing critical assets. This is a consultancy role at Frazer-Nash Consultancy.
Title: Experienced Structural Integrity Engineer
Salary range: £40,000 to £65,000 per annum depending on experience
Location: Leatherhead, Bristol, Burton on Trent, Gloucester, Glasgow, Manchester or Plymouth
Working Pattern: We operate a flexible hybrid working pattern at Frazer-Nash, with time split between the office, client sites and working from home.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with clients to diagnose and resolve defects in individual vessels and develop strategies for entire production facilities or power stations.
- Support safe and efficient operation of assets across industries; participate in substantiation of new designs and life extension of critical plant.
- Apply design/assessment codes and methods, including experience with plant operation, pressure vessels, pipe work, and rotating machinery.
- Utilise FEA and related fatigue, fracture, plant investigations, failure analysis and fitness-for-service methods (e.g., Abaqus, Ansys or LS-Dyna) to inform decisions.
- Engage in business development and delivery through the project lifecycle; interact with customers and contribute to multidisciplinary teams.
- Mentor junior team members and contribute to building effective project teams aligned with customer requirements.
Qualifications
- A degree in engineering or equivalent (MEng, MSc or PhD).
- Ability to travel and conduct site visits, customer meetings, and plant walkdowns.
- Deep technical knowledge in mechanical/structural engineering with familiarity across other disciplines.
- Experience with Finite Element Analysis (preferably Abaqus, Ansys or LS-Dyna).
- Experience with codes and standards (e.g., ASME III, ASME VIII, API579, BS7608, BS7910, R5/R6).
- Experience in a customer-facing role for project delivery and business development.
- Recognised by peers/industry as a trusted advisor in the discipline.
