Job Summary

We’re at a pivotal point in the development of Downtown Pompey and we’re excited to announce that we are looking for an Executive Director. We’re looking for an experienced, innovative and passionate leader to take us into 2026 and support our onward ambitions and goals.

Job Description

Working in close partnership with the Artistic Director and Chair of Board, the role will be a vital interface between the creative and the operational aspects of the organisation, with the Executive Director overseeing delivery of all aspects of Downtown Pompey’s Business Plan, advancing its mission and vision.

We are at a pivotal and exciting point in the development of Downtown Pompey as we move towards becoming a CIO; part of this role will be around being active in our application.

The Executive Director will directly report to the Chair of Board and will provide them with the necessary information and resources to oversee the organisation’s vision and mission and responsibilities to key stakeholders.

Job Requirements
  • Demonstrable relevant work experience working with artists and companies in a leadership role
  • Commitment to furthering intersectional LGBTQIA+ arts & culture
  • Proactive attitude to promoting diversity and inclusion across the sector
  • Enthusiasm for and experience of theatre, performance and Live Art
  • High-level interpersonal, written communications skills and attention to detail
  • Strong planning and organisational skills
  • Capacity to manage multiple projects and prioritise tasks in a busy environment
  • Experience of implementing best practices in people management
  • Fluency in IT systems (we use Google Suite, Zoom, Adobe and Xero)
  • Ability to manage and motivate staff
  • Solution-oriented and a problem solver
