Exam & Overhaul Technician – Rail Rolling Stock

Manchester, Newton Heath – Long‑term contract (Inside IR35) – Days or shifts.

Responsibilities
  • Carry out examinations, overhauls and heavy maintenance on rail vehicles and related equipment.
  • Inspect mechanical and electrical systems to identify wear, defects and faults.
  • Diagnose faults and perform effective repairs in line with technical specifications.
  • Strip, repair, replace and refit components during overhaul work.
  • Ensure all work meets safety, quality and compliance standards.
  • Accurately record maintenance activities using depot systems.
  • Collaborate with engineers, technicians and supervisors to meet operational deadlines.
Qualifications
  • Proven experience as an Examination, Overhaul or Maintenance Technician on rolling stock or similar engineering environment.
  • Level 4 qualification (equivalent).
  • Strong mechanical and/or electrical skills.
  • Excellent fault‑finding, problem solving and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Flexibility to work day shifts or rotating shift patterns.
  • Understanding of rail industry standards and procedures.
