Environmental Manager/Consents Manager – Arcadis

Role Description

As part of the growing Environmental Planning team, we are looking for a Principal/Associate Technical Director with a strong track record of leading environmental and consenting aspects of projects, particularly in winning and delivering work in the Design and Build (D&B) sector.

In this role you will help improve quality of life through environmental management and technical/sustainability expertise. Your work may cover protected species, pollution, surface water and materials management, air quality or noise, across some of the world’s busiest and most beautiful locations.

Accountabilities
  • Lead coordination and delivery of planning and environmental work by multi‑disciplinary teams, influencing project development and delivering optimal outcomes.
  • Drive business development, create project opportunities and lead project delivery to grow our portfolio in the D&B sector while working closely with upstream Environmental and Planning work.
  • Raise awareness of Arcadis services, win new opportunities and build new contacts.
  • Engage key client relationships, lead by example and create cross‑selling opportunities for the wider business.
  • Engage with consultees and stakeholders.
  • Manage projects, overseeing performance on technical, quality, commercial and health & safety aspects.
  • Collaborate with Arcadis colleagues across our global business.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Excellent working knowledge of the environmental and consenting process, including EIA practices, procedures, case law, and a solid understanding of environmental and sustainability principles.
  • Strong experience working with contractors and influencing sustainability through design.
  • Experience across a range of project types.
  • Strong report writing, verbal and presentation skills, and experience reviewing the work of others to ensure quality.
  • Experience in multi‑disciplinary coordination and project leadership, with good project management and technical skills.
  • Experience consulting and negotiating with planning authorities, regulators and stakeholders.
  • Commercial expertise, including forecasting, project management and quality assurance.
  • Relevant degree or equivalent qualification, preferably with chartered status or working toward it.
  • A flexible, pragmatic and collaborative approach to work.
