Duties and Responsibilities
  • Support the delivery of sustainability and environmental action plans specifically tailored for projects.
  • Provide expert advice and support to internal stakeholders on environmental matters, championing best practices and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and project-specific environmental commitments.
  • Collaborate with project teams, including engineering, construction, and health & safety, to integrate environmental and sustainability considerations into project planning and execution.
  • Conduct environmental audits, assessments, and inspections to identify opportunities for enhancement and ensure adherence to project environmental policies and procedures.
  • Play a role in investigating environmental incidents, ensuring lessons are learned and appropriate corrective actions are implemented and communicated effectively.
  • Analyse sustainability performance data, uncover trends and opportunities for enhancement, and develop insightful reports for management and regulatory compliance.
  • Engage with regulatory agencies, external consultants, clients, and third‑party organisations on matters related to environmental permitting, reporting and compliance.
  • Develop and deliver environmental training programs and awareness campaigns tailored to the specific environmental challenges of the project.
  • Assess sustainability and environmental risks and opportunities and assist in the development of environmental management plans to support the project’s sustainability goals.
  • Keep up to date with emerging environmental and sustainability trends, technologies and regulations, evaluating their potential impact on projects and OCU’s broader sustainability commitments.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of environmental and sustainability targets and initiatives aligned with project requirements.
Skills and Experience
  • Hold bachelor’s degree in environmental science, Environmental Engineering or related field; relevant professional certifications preferred (e.g., IEMA, IEEM / IWEM etc).
  • Proven experience working in environmental management, sustainability or related field, preferably within the construction sector.
  • Sound knowledge of environmental legislation, regulations and best practices, with the ability to interpret and apply requirements effectively.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail, with the ability to collect, analyse and interpret environmental data.
  • Confident communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with stakeholders at all levels of the organisation.
  • Self‑motivated and proactive, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team to achieve environmental objectives.
  • Proficiency in environmental management software and tools is desirable.
  • Ability to travel to company sites and project locations as needed.
  • Commitment to promoting environmental sustainability and corporate social responsibility.
