About the Role:

Are you passionate about solving problems and finding solutions for the future? Looking for a new challenge? Do you have experience leading a team within Engineering?

As an inclusive, forward-thinking business, we take pride in our approach to engineering across Avara Foods and are looking for a highly competent and motivated Engineering Team Leader to join our maintenance team, based at our hatchery in Ower, near Totton. As the Engineering Team Leader you’ll be a key player in ensuring the consistent smooth running of Hatchery machinery including planning maintenance and reactive repairs, along with continually looking for improvements for future processes.

Working Hours:

You will be working 45 hours per week on a 2-week rota. - with an On call requirement

Week 1: Monday – Friday 06:00 – 15:30

Week 2: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday & Saturday 06:00 – 15:30

What will your key responsibilities as Engineering Team Leader include?
  • Overseeing the planning, execution and delivery of engineering projects.
  • Implementing and maintaining engineering best practices and processes across site.
  • Managing, motivating and mentoring a team of Engineers.
  • Improving equipment reliability, stamping out recurring faults.
  • Responsibility for equipment servicing and maintenance with external service providers.
  • Supporting the back up call out rota.
  • On-call will be required for this role. It will run on a week-on/week-off basis (Friday to Friday), alternating with the other engineer on the on-call rota.
What you’ll need to be successful:
  • Previous experience leading or managing a team.
  • Ability to bring a team together with open communication, teamwork and a positive work culture.
  • Have completed an Engineering Apprenticeship or qualifications at level 3 or equivalent.
  • Previous experience withing the agricultural or food industry would be beneficial.
