Lead Electrical Engineer
We are seeking an experienced Lead Electrical Engineer to join our team in Stockton. The candidate will be responsible for leading and participating in the development of Electrical systems design for various projects across a range of industries, including nuclear, defence, process, and pharmaceuticals. The role involves producing and checking engineering deliverables throughout the full design lifecycle, supporting procurement activities, construction, and testing and commissioning, and providing technical support to all aspects of electrical engineering.
Specific responsibilities:
- Lead and take responsibility for the delivery of the design aspects of the project.
- Contribute to the production of multidisciplinary design documentation such as Project Requirement Documents, Basis of Design, Project Verification Plans, Quality Plans, and Design Justification Reports.
- Determine project requirements independently.
- Review and check design documents and electrical deliverables developed by design teams.
- Estimate hours for scope changes or additional works, and outline supporting schedules for the discipline.
- Support and contribute to the delivery of Design Reviews.
- Produce reports and documentation to comply with CDM.
- Interface with the Integrated Design Team, facility team, and other project functions throughout project phases.
- Actively participate in the technical development of electrical engineering team members including apprentices, graduates, and junior engineers.
- Actively contribute to procedural and technical working of the department with the production of department procedures, work instructions, design guides, and templates.
Requirements:
- Management of design delivery teams.
- Good working knowledge of Wiring Regulations (BS7671) for industrial installations.
- Working knowledge of Machinery Safety, UKCA Marking.
- Good working knowledge of switchgear standards BS EN 62271 (applicable to voltages from 1kV to 52kV), BS EN 60947.
- Knowledge of BS EN 60909 for fault level studies; experience in creating load flow and motor starting studies; use of SKM Powertools or ETAP software.
- Design and specification of lightning protection systems, risk assessments per BS EN IEC 62305.
- Design and specification of earthing systems; determination of touch and step potentials during fault and lightning strike conditions.
- Knowledge of suitable surge protection equipment per applicable standards and wiring regulations.
- Experience delivering within formal Business Management systems; estimation and schedule production; progress reporting.
- The ability to work collaboratively in a team environment is essential.
Lead Software Engineer (Java / Typescript)
We are looking for a highly skilled Lead Software Engineer to take ownership of a core platform system for a client. In this pivotal role, you will guide a talented engineering team, ensure system stability and performance, and drive new feature development while maintaining the existing product.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide technical direction across the software development lifecycle, ensuring alignment with internal standards and best practices.
- Contribute directly to the codebase and support sprint goals with high‑quality engineering work.
- Manage and mentor a small team of software engineers, fostering collaboration, growth, and engineering excellence.
Skills, Knowledge & Expertise
- Strong software development background with proven proficiency in Java and TypeScript.
- Commercial AWS experience; solid understanding of core cloud services.
- NoSQL expertise, with hands‑on experience in at least one NoSQL technology (Cassandra experience is a plus).
- Understanding of search indexing and practical exposure to at least one search platform (Solr beneficial).
- CI/CD proficiency; deep understanding of the software development lifecycle, automation best practices, and modern CI/CD tooling.
- Experience designing, building, and maintaining highly available, scalable systems.
- API design experience, familiarity with best practices for REST and GraphQL APIs.
Education & Experience
- Experience working with complex, mission‑critical systems.
- Previous experience in a SaaS environment is a plus.
