We have a fantastic opportunity to join our Engineering team as a Reliability Engineer at our Memory Lane Cakes site in Cardiff, part of the Finsbury Food Group. This is a hands-on, improvement-focused role, ideal for someone passionate about driving engineering reliability, performance, and innovation in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Our Memory Lane Cakes site is one of our cake bakeries within Finsbury Food Group. We make a large percentage of the UK's sharing cakes from retailer own brands cakes, tray bakes through to party cakes like Caterpillar cakes. They employ over 850 people on site and the sites runs 24/7, which encompasses a culture of Team work, friendly and respectful leadership and a focus on Continuous improvement at all levels.

This is what you'll actually do!

As a Reliability Engineer, you'll be the subject matter expert in our computerised maintenance management system (CMMS), taking ownership of improving engineering standards across the site. Your mission is to increase asset reliability and reduce downtime through structured continuous improvement and proactive engineering.

You’ll lead the redevelopment of our planned preventative maintenance (PPM) activities, standard operating procedures (SOPs), training materials, and operational blueprints. Your work will directly support KPI improvements and engineering effectiveness across the site.

You’ll play a key role in Root Cause Problem Solving (RCPS) by supporting investigations and driving the implementation of engineering-led improvements. Your input will help ensure that learnings are embedded and that recurring issues are addressed effectively. In addition, you’ll provide flexible engineering support to the wider team, contributing where needed to maintain smooth operations and minimise downtime. You’ll also get involved in site-wide initiatives such as Asset Care, ITF projects, and capital project delivery.

You’ll work cross-functionally with the CI team and broader operational teams, identifying issues and designing practical, innovative solutions that improve equipment reliability, documentation, and engineering processes.
