Qualifications

  • Students in the penultimate year of a highly analytical, numerical or business-focused subject.
  • Ideally on course to achieve a 2:1 or higher.

Responsibilities

Work alongside industry experts, building experience and skills to flourish in your early career. This is a year-long Industrial Placement with opportunities across multiple areas.

Join us at the UK headquarters of RWE Supply & Trading (RWEST) in Swindon where we currently have opportunities across a variety of areas:

  • Automated Trading & Surveillance Risk — Manage market abuse risk and algorithmic trading governance; communicate relevant information to senior stakeholders; fulfil RWEST’s regulatory duty of supervision and help protect our license to trade.
  • Back Office — Ensure the smooth execution and settlement of our energy portfolio (Renewable Energy, Gas, Freight, LNG, Biomass and Chrome ore). Manage trade confirmations and documentation; handle post-trade activities such as trade reconciliations, regulatory reporting and compliance, collateral management and meter data management.
  • Commercial Asset Optimisation — Gain insight into optimising positions and purchasing of commodities (e.g., gas) to operate our power stations; work on modelling and analysis projects to deliver value.
  • New Business Partners Team — Contribute to RWEST’s global growth activities in new markets with new product implementations for the Commercial Desks. Develop, monitor and actively manage the Global Approved Product database and reports.
  • Risk Governance — Provide transparency on risk to the RWEST Board and Management via Enterprise Risk Report, Stress Test Report, etc.; assist in gate checks on limit framework and limit management; provide guidance, coordination and ad hoc analysis for desk-facing market risk teams and other functions.
  • Trading Risk — Analyse Profit & Loss, trading strategies and market risks; communicate information to senior stakeholders and provide independent advice to the Board.

Job requirements and experiences
Passionate about the energy industry and eager to learn and grow alongside experienced industry experts. We seek students in the penultimate year of a highly analytical, numerical or business-focused subject (such as Maths, Physics, Engineering, Computer Science, Business or Economics) who are ideally on course to achieve a 2:1 or higher. What you must have is:

  • Excellent communication skills with fluent English
  • IT proficiency
  • A desire to work collaboratively with a curious approach, challenging yourself to find new solutions
  • Motivated to take on new challenges, whether operating independently or in a team
  • Commercial aptitude and entrepreneurial skills
  • Analytical mind and the ability to learn quickly
  • Enthusiasm and drive to develop your skillset and seek development opportunities within a supportive team
