Employment Taxes Assistant Manager / Manager

Grant Thornton UK is looking for an experienced Assistant Manager or Manager to join our national Employment Tax team. The role offers full‑time, flexible or hybrid working options.

A look into the role
  • Advise a diverse client base on employment tax issues (PAYE, NIC, employee benefits, IR35).
  • Help employers achieve cost savings through effective pay and benefit reward structures.
  • Manage Employment Tax compliance and mitigate internal and external risks, including year‑end reporting, National Minimum Wage and holiday pay.
  • Assist with Employment Tax reviews (due diligence, health checks, SAO, standalone).
  • Play an integral role in the Employment Tax and wider Employer Solutions group on projects.
  • Build the reputation of the Employment Tax team and Grant Thornton through quality delivery.
Minimum criteria
  • ACA/ACCA/CTA qualified or an equivalent tax qualification.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to lead projects.
  • At least 3 years’ experience in Employment Tax.
Desirable
  • Current knowledge of UK tax legislation and common Employment Tax themes (PAYE, NIC, IR35, etc.) and awareness of HMRC updates.
  • A well‑thought‑out approach to complex problems with sound judgment and research, communicating with empathy and impact.
  • Tenacity, resilience, a collaborative mindset, and enthusiasm for business opportunities.
  • Willingness to embrace technology to increase efficiency and maximise client opportunities.
  • Ability to analyse client problems, integrate information and provide clear and consistent communication.
