Job description
Embedded Software Verification and Validation Engineer

Location: Stevenage

Salary: Circa £64,000 depending on experience

Dynamic (hybrid) working: typically, 4 days per week on-site, due to workload classification

Security Clearance: British Citizen or a Dual UK national with British citizenship. As a minimum and after offer stage, all successful candidates will need to undergo HMG Basic Personnel Security Standard checks (BPSS), which are managed by the MBDA Personnel Security Team.

Opportunity

Spanning a diverse portfolio of work packages, you will be working with teams of enthusiastic, dedicated engineers to qualify components of some of the world's most sophisticated defence systems!

The role requires taking requirements, developing them into robust test cases, preparing and executing tests, capturing data, and delivering actionable feedback to project teams. You will have to draw upon your strong practical problem‑solving skills, data acquisition expertise, and adaptability.

  • Turn requirements into structured test cases and procedures.
  • Operate in a lab environment on an electromechanical product running embedded software.
  • Record and analyse test data to produce actionable feedback.
  • Engage in focused code reviews and support continuous improvement.
Qualifications
  • Strong experience of Verification and Validation (V&V) activities in an embedded software environment.
  • Experience of turning requirements into structured test cases and procedures.
  • Experience working in a lab environment on an electromechanical product running embedded software.
  • Good working knowledge of the complete software engineering lifecycle.
  • Script‑ing abilities.
  • Safety‑critical systems experience (desirable).
  • Knowledge of standards such as DefStan 00‑55, DO‑178C & DO‑330.
  • Embedded software development experience using Ada and/or C/C++.
  • Knowledge of Real‑Time Operating Systems.
  • Model‑Driven Design experience.
  • Knowledge of test automation methods.
  • Familiarity with DOORS, EWM, Rapita Suite, Rhapsody, LDRA.
  • Breakpoint analysis experience.
  • Experience with focused code reviews.
