Embedded Software Verification and Validation Engineer

We have a great opportunity for a skilled and adaptable Verification and Validation (V&V) Test Engineer to join our Real‑Time Embedded software department!

Salary: Circa £64,000 depending on experience.
Dynamic (hybrid) working: typically, 4 days per week on site.
Security Clearance: British Citizen or a Dual UK national with British citizenship.

If you have experience of verification and validation in an advanced technological environment, ideally with a background in embedded software development, then we would like to talk to you.

The role requires taking requirements, developing them into robust test cases, preparing and executing tests, capturing data, and delivering actionable feedback to project teams.

You will have to draw upon your strong practical problem‑solving skills, data acquisition expertise, and adaptability.

Key responsibilities
  • Strong experience of Verification and Validation (V&V) activities in an embedded software environment.
  • Experience of turning requirements into structured test cases and procedures.
  • Experience of working in a lab environment on an electro‑mechanical product running embedded software.
  • Good working knowledge of the complete software engineering lifecycle.
  • Scripting abilities
Desirable but not essential
  • Safety critical systems experience
  • Knowledge of standards such as DefStan 00‑55, DO‑178C & DO‑330
  • Embedded software development experience using Ada and/or C/C++.
  • Knowledge of Real Time Operating Systems
  • Model Driven Design experience
  • Knowledge of test automation methods
  • Knowledge of DOORS, Engineering Workflow Management (EWM), Rapita Suite, Rhapsody, LDRA
  • Breakpoint Analysis experience
  • Experience of Focused Code Reviews
