Our client, a trusted partner of the UK Ministry of Defence, is seeking an Embedded ADA Software Engineer to join their innovative software team in Stevenage. You’ll help design, test, and deliver cutting‑edge embedded solutions across a diverse tech stack. Working in a small, empowered team, you’ll lead with autonomy, collaborate cross‑functionally, and thrive in lab‑based environments using scopes, analyzers, and bespoke testing tools.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and develop real‑time embedded software in ADA for PowerPC‑based platforms.
  • Conduct thorough testing and validation of embedded software components.
  • Define and implement test requirements and scripts for unit, subsystem, and system‑level testing across host and target environments.
  • Execute tests and analyze results using tools such as debuggers, probes, logic analyzers, and oscilloscopes.
  • Produce clear and structured software documentation to support design and development activities.
Qualifications
  • Proven experience developing reliable, high‑performance embedded software in ADA, with a focus on quality and documentation.
  • Skilled in programming embedded systems on PowerPC platforms.
  • Hands‑on experience testing embedded software using tools such as debuggers, probes, logic analyzers, and oscilloscopes.
  • Familiarity with DOORS for requirements management and traceability.
  • Proficient in model‑based development using SysML or UML.
  • Strong understanding of standardized bus systems and communication protocols.
  • Excellent analytical and design skills, with the ability to critically review and improve software solutions.
  • A proactive, flexible mindset with a passion for solving complex technical challenges beyond traditional software boundaries.
  • Motivated to work on mission‑critical products where software performance is essential.
  • Effective communicator across multidisciplinary teams including Systems, Electronics, and Test & Validation.
  • Experience mentoring and supporting junior engineers within a collaborative team environment.
