Contract type: Permanent • Full-time: 38 hours per week, Monday to Friday 07:30 – 15:36

Salary: Up to £42,000 depending on experience, plus standby rota payments & overtime opportunities that can increase earnings by up to £8,000-£10,000 per annum after completing essential training

About the role

We have a great opportunity for a career-minded individual to join our Maintenance team as an Electrical Technician at our Beckton Sewage Treatment Works - IG11 0AD.

As a successful candidate, you will use your electrical knowledge and experience to inspect, maintain, fault diagnose, test, install, modify or repair mechanical plant and associated electrical equipment, in a safe, efficient, timely and effective manner with minimum supervision, ensuring our sites remain operational for our customers.

What you’ll be doing as the Electrical Technician
  • Ensuring the health, safety and well-being of yourself, colleagues, contractors, and visitors by complying with Health and Safety at Work regulations and Thames Water’s Health and Safety guidelines.
  • Undertaking reactive and planned maintenance, responding to alarms and fault finding, identifying issues, fixing them or escalating, and installing new plant and equipment in line with standards and regulations.
  • Recording work and asset information to improve business performance, identifying potential future risks, and raising these for resolution as required.
  • Providing specialist technical advice with up-to-date knowledge, and coaching/training staff, including the apprenticeship programme.
  • Delivering excellent customer experience and positively contributing to overall customer satisfaction; interacting with internal and external customers in a timely, professional, efficient, respectful and polite manner.

Working pattern

38 hours, Monday–Friday 07:30 am – 03:36 pm. Standby and overtime opportunities may increase earnings by £8,000 - £10,000 per annum.

What you should bring to the role
  • You should be a time-served apprentice with significant experience in electrical systems or hold NVQ or C&G Level 3 in electrical engineering.
  • 18th Edition preferred, but training can be given.
  • A problem solver who can identify potential issues and implement solutions or escalate as required.
  • An excellent communicator, providing technical expertise to internal and external staff and contractors.
  • Resilient, adaptable to the pressures of work and changing environments.
  • Ability to work with minimum supervision and take initiative to design and adhere to standards.
  • Knowledge and awareness of Health and Safety issues relevant to the industry.
  • Team player capable of working across different teams, with respectful communication and willingness to develop others.
  • Full UK driving licence.
