The role

As an Electrical Fitter, you’ll be part of a highly skilled team within our Shiplift Facility, playing a vital role in supporting the Royal Navy fleet. This is more than just a job – it’s a chance to contribute to national security and be part of something bigger. You’ll work in a dynamic, high-integrity environment where your expertise will help ensure the operational readiness and safety of critical assets.

Day-to-day, you’ll have the following responsibilities:

  • Completing planned preventative maintenance and nuclear-implicated work to meet operational goals
  • Identifying and resolving system defects to maintain Shiplift performance
  • Recommending improvements to enhance productivity and efficiency
  • Working in accordance with health and safety legislation and Safe Systems of Work
  • Supporting other departments, including the Estate team, when required.

This is a full-time, permanent position based onsite at HMNB Clyde, working Monday to Thursday, 07:15–16:45.

Essential experience of the Electrical Fitter:
  • Background in marine or industrial engineering with a focus on electrical maintenance
  • Comfortable working at heights, in confined spaces, and in all weather conditions
  • Skilled in reading and interpreting technical drawings and solving problems under pressure
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety and quality
  • Familiarity with maintenance procedures, COSHH, risk assessments, and Safe Systems of Work.
Qualifications for the Electrical Fitter:
  • Recognised Electrical Engineering Apprenticeship (SVQ Level 3, NVQ, or City & Guilds equivalent)

OR

  • HNC or higher in Electrical Engineering with relevant industry experience.
