Are you an experienced Electrical Engineer looking for a role that truly matters? This is an opportunity to work in a complex, high‑security environment where your expertise directly supports critical infrastructure. Join the Mechanical and Electrical Maintenance team at RAF Menwith Hill and play a key role in maintaining one of the most important operational sites in the UK.

About the role

As an Electrical Engineer, you will work as part of the Operations and Maintenance team, delivering high‑quality electrical maintenance and repair services across the site. You will be required to work in all areas of RAF Menwith Hill, responding to work requests allocated by your supervisor and carrying out tasks in accordance with industry standards, risk assessments, legislation, and site‑specific procedures.

Your duties will include carrying out repairs and maintenance on a wide range of electrical plant and equipment, undertaking electrical testing of plant, machinery, and buildings, and completing routine maintenance inspections of electrical installations within domestic, office, and operational buildings. You will also carry out minor new electrical works within operational areas and undertake minor repairs to fire detection and suppression systems.

Accurate completion of daily work dockets is essential, ensuring all required information is recorded. The role involves direct liaison with customers at the start of each task to outline the scope of work, expected timescales, and relevant health and safety considerations, as well as ensuring the workplace is left safe and tidy on completion. You may also be required to carry out other duties appropriate to the grade.

What you’ll need
  • Minimum of an NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Installations or a recognised electrical apprenticeship supported by a City and Guilds qualification along with a 2391 qualification.
  • Experience working with electrical plant and equipment; working knowledge of IEE Wiring Regulations.
  • Hold, or be willing to obtain, Skilled Persons Status and Emergency First Aid at Work certification.
  • Good IT skills with confidence using Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and industry‑standard maintenance software.

Security and eligibility

Due to the secure nature of the site, applicants must be UK or US nationals and capable of obtaining and maintaining DV Enhanced security clearance.
