Salary: Soulbury: EIP/SCP 1 - 3 = £41,554 to £44,305

We are currently looking to recruit an Elective Home Education Coordinator to join our busy team within the Elective Home Education Service.

With the rise in the number of children and young people across Wales being electively educated at home, we are looking to employ a second permanent coordinator who will effectively manage their own demanding caseload, ensuring strong safeguarding processes and procedures are followed, providing professional advice and guidance to families and professionals.

Working closely with families you will:

  • be a named contact within the authority for home educators;
  • visit families and provide guidance and support for parents and carers who have elected to educate their children;
  • access if an education being provide at home is suitable to the young person's age, ability and aptitude.
  • write reports based on information shared;
  • understand and implement the Welsh Government statutory guidance on children educated at home;
  • assist with completing statistical and statutory returns;
  • where required make referrals for early help support and SPOCS where there are safeguarding concerns.

You must have excellent interpersonal and communication skills and will have the ability to respond to a range of queries and challenges.

This post is based in Baglan Education Centre; however, this post does link to a hybrid module of working.

You must have a full driving licence and the ability to travel expensively around the County Borough.

You will have experience in/of;

To be successful in this role you must have experience of partnership working and be able to demonstrate positive support to children, young people and their families removing barriers to engagement and gaining improved outcomes.

Experience of assessing the suitability of education taking place at home to a young person's age ability and aptitude.

Experience of working with schools and improving the outcomes of children and young people is essential; along with a solid understand of the use of management information systems such as SIMS/EMS/Capita One or other similar systems. Including a vast experience of working in a demanding environment.

You will need have; -Minimum education qualification 4 GCSE's at grade C or above, one of which must be either English or Welsh, plus Mathematics, or a qualification of a comparable level.
