Job description
Overview

We are seeking an EHV Cable Engineering Manager to join Wood Transmission & Distribution Ltd UK due to significant growth. You will play a crucial role in ensuring compliance and bolstering our technical credibility with new and existing clients. You will lead engineering delivery across multiple projects, ensuring timely preparation of quality deliverables within the allocated program and budget. You will drive the success of a cohesive cable delivery team by harmonizing various technical disciplines to function as a unified entity. The role supports hybrid working (office and remote) with travel as needed and can be based at any UK office, with a preference for Glasgow or Horsham.

Responsibilities
  • Manage the engineering process and all deliverables across the full scope of HV cable projects in accordance with the agreed schedule
  • Oversee engineering management including delivery updates, change control and risk management
  • Complete checking and approval of deliverables within your technical competence; be prepared to perform design activities to meet schedule
  • Ensure constructability and safety-by-design requirements are met in deliverables
  • Provide guidance to the team to develop others within the team
Qualifications
  • Chartered Engineer or equivalent preferred
  • Substantial experience delivering HV cable design solutions, leading a mixed team including electrical, civil and CAD resources
  • Strong teamworking and organisational abilities with effective communication
  • Understanding of health and safety impacts on HV cable construction contracts
  • Fluent spoken and written English
  • Ability to work as part of a dispersed/remote team and communicate via collaboration software such as Microsoft Teams
  • Right to work in the UK
Desirable
  • Experience with British and European design standards and codes
  • Experience providing engineering inputs to cable construction activities including planning and delivery
  • Understanding of engineering management including schedule and cost management
  • Experience supporting tendering activities
  • Experience presenting technical outputs and supporting client engagements
