Job summary

A dairy processing company in Northern Ireland is seeking a Team Leader for its Artigarvan site. The successful candidate will ensure high performance in effluent treatment processes while promoting safety and compliance standards. Lakeland Dairies Co-operative Society Limited (The Group) is the second largest dairy processor on the island of Ireland. The business is complex and ambitious with a milk supply pool of 2 billion litres of milk, drawn from over 3,200 family farms across 16 counties.

With the most modern dairy manufacturing facilities in 8 locations on a cross-border basis, the Group supplies to a broad customer base including some of the world’s foremost ‘blue chip’ companies across the dairy food ingredients, foodservice and consumer food channels on a domestic Ireland, UK, European and global basis. Internationally we export some 240 different products to over 100 countries worldwide.

The Group’s Agribusiness Division (Lakeland Agri) operates a state-of-the-art Animal Feed Manufacturing Facility and is a leading and innovative provider of the highest quality feeds and agricultural inputs to dairy, beef and sheep farmers across the north and south of Ireland.

Applications are invited for the above positions at our Artigarvan site.
The Role:

These key Team Leader roles are responsible for driving exceptional ETP performance across our Artigarvan site. The successful applicants will lead by example ensuring top-tier safety, housekeeping, and legal compliance. Our ETP Team Leaders will maximize resource efficiency (labour and equipment) and act as the first point of contact for all departmental issues, providing regular performance updates to the supervisor.

Key responsibilities will include (not limited to):
  • Ensure Health & Safety and Environmental standards are maintained by the team at all times, and actively contribute to a “safety first” culture.
  • Ensure a high standard of housekeeping is maintained in the department at all times, promoting a “clean as-you-go” policy.
  • Ensure compliance with all discharge trends and parameters. Adjusting treatment processes to maintain compliance and efficiency.
  • Ensure the most efficient use of all resources (people, materials, equipment) to ensure delivery of the daily operation plan and to achieve optimum performance of the ETP.
  • Ensure all monitoring records and paperwork are accurately maintained and signed in a timely manner.
  • Carry out daily plant walks to ensure all standards are maintained, to coach the team by challenging underperformance as well as recognising high levels of performance.
  • Carry out daily “huddles” with the team to communicate previous day’s results and agree What’s Important Now and key actions.
  • Manage stock levels and complete stock control records as required.
  • Assist leading the team in responding to plant upsets, equipment failures, or environmental incidents, ensuring corrective actions are taken swiftly.
  • Assist with monitoring and management of nuisance factors to protect community relations, e.g. Odour & Noise Control.
The Person

Our team is seeking an individual that possesses:

  • Previous Team Leader/Supervisory level experience from within a manufacturing/production based role (Ideally food).
  • Knowledge of Health and Safety principles.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to make confident decisions.
  • Ability to work cross functionally with other departments (H&S, Lab etc).
  • Proficient in using Microsoft Office packages (Word, Outlook).
  • Experience of dairy/food manufacturing and/or Effluent Treatment works would be advantageous.

Please note this role covers day and night shift working on a rotational shift pattern
