A global engineering services company based in Barrow-in-Furness is looking for an Interim Accountant on a fixed-term contract for 12 months. The role involves management accounting, reporting and financial planning & analysis while working with various stakeholders. Candidates should possess a minimum AAT Level 4 qualification and demonstrate strong IT skills along with solid finance experience. This position supports hybrid working, requiring three days at the Barrow office.

The Role: The Interim Accountant role is to aid in the process of accurate and timely management accounting reporting for the central division, the role requires the use of multiple accounting systems and business partnering with a diverse amount of finance & non‑finance stakeholders.
What you’ll be doing:
Principle Accountabilities: Preparing the management accounts and assisting in the statutory reporting, external audit, forecasting and budgeting processes for James Fisher Asset Information Services Ltd— a trading James Fisher PLC subsidiary (including VAT Returns, Balance Sheet Reconciliation), this will include but is not limited to tasks such as bank reconciliations, processing journals, currency revaluations & profitability analysis.
Assisting in accountancy tasks for the James Fisher PLC Head Office function, with tasks to be performed including but is not limited to VAT returns, balance sheet management (Fixed assets etc) and reconciliations.
Preparing the management accounts, forecast & budgets and all other relevant information (including VAT returns, balance sheet reconciliations) for other holding companies of the group.
Involvement in system enhancement projects and in wider shared services migration and transformation.
Key skills, knowledge and experience Essential:

A flexible approach will be needed combined with attention to detail and a hands‑on work ethic along with being comfortable using new systems and confident in picking up new processes.
*This role will involve hybrid working - 3 days a week in the Barrow office: Therefore, you will need to be located within a commutable distance to this location.
